Manchester United, Chelsea prepare to fight for Everton defender John Stones?

Everton defender John Stones could be the subject of a bidding war between Manchester United and Chelsea, say reports.

Manchester United are convinced that Chelsea will make a move to sign Everton defender John Stones this summer, according to reports.

United are reportedly keen to sign the 21-year-old in this window, while Arsenal have also been linked in the past.

However, it is the interest of Chelsea which concerns Louis van Gaal, according to the Daily Mail, and the United boss wants to snap up the England international sooner rather than later to avoid a bidding war.

Stones is a boyhood United fan, but he turned them down in 2012 to join Everton from Barnsley.
