Manchester United 'unlikely to hijack Tottenham Hotspur's Gareth Bale move'

Manchester United decide against making a late move for Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale, according to a report.

Manchester United have reportedly decided against making a late move for Real Madrid's Gareth Bale.

The Wales international had allegedly emerged as a loan target for the Red Devils, who are struggling to reach an agreement with Borussia Dortmund for Jadon Sancho.

However, Tottenham Hotspur have since leapfrogged United in the race, with Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett confirming that talks are underway with Jose Mourinho's side over a possible return to London.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the 31-year-old was being considered by the Red Devils as an alternative to Sancho, but the club were only ever interested in a loan move.

The report claims that the 20-time English champions are now 'unlikely to intervene' as Spurs seemingly near a deal to bring their former player back to the Premier League.

The Welshman, who has a contract at the Bernabeu until June 2022, has scored 105 goals in 251 appearances for Madrid since arriving in the Spanish capital.
