Inter Milan will reportedly refuse to sell Alessandro Bastoni, who has been linked with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, during the January transfer window.

Inter Milan will refuse to sell Alessandro Bastoni during the January transfer window despite the recent speculation, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The 23-year-old's future has been the subject of much discussion in recent weeks, with Tottenham Hotspur said to be determined to bring him to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, there has also been suggestions of interest from Manchester United, with Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag said to be an admirer of the Italy international.

The centre-back has been heavily linked with a January move to the Premier League, but Romano has insisted that Inter will not let him leave in the middle of the campaign.

Meanwhile, the journalist claims that it will take a lot more than the reported €50m (£43.1m)-€60m (£51.7m) fee in order to sign him.

"Sorry Tottenham fans, but I have no news on Alessandro Bastoni right now; he has a long-term contract with Inter and he won't leave in January, despite speculation to the contrary," Romano wrote in his column for CaughtOffside.

"I can't even give you a clear idea of an asking price as I don't think Inter would name one, but I'm sure they won't sell him for the reported €50m (£43.1m)-€60m (£51.7m) I've seen around."

Bastoni signed a contract extension in May 2021, although his current deal with the Italian giants is due to expire in June 2024.

The defender made the move to San Siro from Atalanta BC in 2017, and he has now represented Inter on 131 occasions in all competitions, contributing three goals and 11 assists in the process.

Bastoni, capped on 16 occasions by Italy, made 44 appearances in all competitions at club level last season.

Meanwhile, he has already featured on 13 occasions for the Black and Blues in Serie A and the Champions League this term, contributing two assists in the process.

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte is believed to view Bastoni as the ideal player to play in his back three, with the experienced manager determined to further boost his squad in 2023.

Man United signed Lisandro Martinez over the summer, but there could be a number of centre-back departures next summer, with Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe potentially leaving, which would open up space in the squad to bring in another player in that area of the field.

Manchester City are also believed to be keeping an eye on the developments surrounding Bastoni, as he prepares to enter the final 18 months of his contract with Simone Inzaghi's side.
