Manchester United have reportedly emerged as major contenders to sign Monaco centre-back Axel Disasi in the summer transfer window, with the Premier League side holding discussions with the player's representatives.
The 25-year-old has been a regular starter for Monaco in Ligue 1 this season, appearing in 28 matches, scoring two goals and assisting on three occasions as his side look to secure a top-two finish.
Disasi made his France debut in the World Cup defeat to Tunisia back in November and featured in two other matches at the tournament in Qatar - one of them being the World Cup final loss to Argentina.
According to Footmercato, Manchester United are now serious candidates to sign the defender in the summer, despite the player's contract not expiring until June 2025.
The report also adds that Disasi's representatives and the Premier League side held discussions in England two weeks ago concerning a potential deal, with the Red Devils said to be impressed by the Frenchman's strength and aerial ability.
Erik ten Hag's men return to action following the international break when they travel to top-four rivals Newcastle United, whilst Disasi and Monaco host Strasbourg as they look to record back-to-back wins in Ligue 1.
