Manchester United and Liverpool are both reportedly weighing up a summer move for Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back Evan Ndicka, who would be available on a free transfer.

Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on Evan Ndicka's situation at Eintracht Frankfurt ahead of a possible move for the defender this summer.

The 23-year-old's contract with the Bundesliga club is set to expire at the end of this season, meaning that he is free to discuss terms with overseas clubs regarding a transfer this summer.

Frankfurt remain hopeful that Ndicka might extend his stay at Deutsche Bank Park, but the Frenchman is understood to have rejected a number of offers from his current employers already.

Severall clubs including Barcelona are thought to be tracking his situation, and Football Insider reports that Man United and Liverpool are among the interested parties.

Both Premier League giants are expected to be in the market for defensive reinforcements this summer, with Man United's duo Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof facing uncertain futures at Old Trafford.

Speculation has also surrounded the futures of Joel Matip and Joe Gomez at Liverpool, while backup options Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams could also be on their way out of Anfield.

However, centre-back is not thought to be either club's priority in the upcoming transfer market, with Man United set to spend big on a new striker and Liverpool expected to splash the cash on refreshing their midfield options.

A free transfer for Ndicka therefore represents a cheap option for either club to strengthen other areas of their team, with no transfer fee needing to be paid to Frankfurt.

Despite seemingly being on his way out of the club, Ndicka has remained an important part of the Frankfurt team this season, making 35 appearances across all competitions and featuring in all eight of their Champions League outings.

The defender was part of the team that won the Europa League last season and has made 174 appearances for Frankfurt in total since joining from Auxerre in 2018.
