Manchester United are reportedly looking to promote midfielder Hannibal Mejbri to the first team, if Paul Pogba is to leave the club.
Pogba, who has less than 12 months remaining on his current contract, is yet to agree terms over a new deal to stay at Old Trafford and is being monitored by both Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
Although the Frenchman is believed to be leaning towards signing a new long-term contract to stay with the Red Devils, the 28-year-old's future remains uncertain.
According to The Athletic, United Under-23s coach Neil Wood has utilised Mejbri in a deeper role in midfield during the early stages of this season to help develop his versatility as an all-round midfielder.
The 18-year-old prefers to play in a number 10 role, however this campaign has seen him moved further back into a deeper position, similarly to where Pogba plays in the senior side, distributing the ball from deep and starting attacks himself.
Mejbri, who has made just one appearance for United's first team, arrived in England from Monaco in the summer of 2019, and is considered as one of the club's brightest talents in their academy.
