Manchester United were reportedly keen to sign Ivan Rakitic from Barcelona this summer, but fear that the Croatian is heading for Inter Milan.

Manchester United reportedly want to sign Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic this summer, but the Red Devils fear that the Croatia international has already agreed a deal with Inter Milan.

Rakitic recently took to Instagram to call on the media to "stop inventing things" amid reports that the midfielder was heading for Inter in this summer's transfer window.

The 31-year-old also insisted that he would be at Barca "for many years to come", but there remains speculation surrounding the future of the 2018 World Cup finalist.

According to The Sun, United have been monitoring Rakitic's situation after Barca announced the signing of Frenkie de Jong from Ajax earlier this year, but the 20-time English champions now expect the midfielder to join Inter.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team could now reportedly attempt to land Paris Saint-Germain's Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer ahead of the 2019-2020 campaign.
