Leicester City are reportedly planning to move for ex-Chelsea skipper Gary Cahill in the increasingly likely event of Harry Maguire leaving the club this summer.
Defender Maguire, who has been with the Foxes since 2017, is the subject of a fierce bidding war between city rivals Manchester United and Manchester City, with the eventual winner expected to pay close to £90m for his signature.
Brendan Rodgers's side have previously insisted that the England international would not be sold but are now resigned to his departure after the player himself indicated that he wishes to leave.
Cahill, meanwhile, is a free agent after leaving Stamford Bridge at the end of last season, having made 290 appearances for the Blues across eight seasons.
According to The Sun, Rodgers has now identified the veteran centre-back as an ideal replacement for Maguire and plan to speak to his representatives about a deal.
Cahill is also being chased by Arsenal, Crystal Palace and West Ham United.
