Graham Hunter: 'Manchester United not keen on Mesut Ozil'

Journalist Graham Hunter says that Manchester United were not overly keen to hold transfer talks with Mesut Ozil when offered the chance last week.

Spanish football expert Graham Hunter has claimed that Manchester United were offered the chance to hold talks with Real Madrid attacker Mesut Ozil last week.

The German international has emerged as a reported target of United boss David Moyes in recent days following his unsuccessful pursuit of Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas.

However, despite the fact that Ozil is said to be open to the possibility of a move to the Premier League, United offered "no encouragement" when an approach was made to them by the 24-year-old's father.

"So many United fans asking about Ozil that despite the abuse I got for reporting the club's market earlier this summer, here's what I know. Ozil not happy at the threat of Isco and Bale to his place. Ozil's father is actively seeking to place him in the Prem," tweeted Hunter.

"However, an initial approach to United one week ago, brought no encouragement at all. Don't know if that has changed, but doubt."

Ozil joined Los Blancos from Werder Bremen in 2010.
