Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly moved a step closer to signing Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
The Portugal international is known to be keen to take on a new challenge this summer, a development which has led to Spurs and Manchester United being frequently linked with an approach for the playmaker.
Despite neither club appearing to have agreed a fee with Sporting, progress still seems to have been made with regards to personal terms.
According to journalist Goncalo Lopes, Spurs have successfully negotiated a deal with the player's agent, leaving the North London outfit's hierarchy to work on a price with Sporting.
United are also said to be in the same position, although there have been suggestions that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is instead targeting a big-money deal for Spurs midfielder Christian Eriksen.
The 24-year-old has allegedly informed Sporting that he would prefer to move to Champions League runners-up Spurs.
