Stefan de Vrij 'wants Lazio move, not Manchester United'

Lazio sporting director Igli Tare claims that Stefan de Vrij wants to sign for the Italian club, not Manchester United.

Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has claimed that Feyenoord defender Stefan de Vrij wants to move to Italy as opposed to former Premier League champions Manchester United.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a switch to Old Trafford following his performances under manager Louis van Gaal during the Netherlands' World Cup campaign in Brazil.

However, Tare told reporters: "Many things have been said and written about De Vrij and his transfer to United but this is not true. His agent has said clearly that he has never been to Manchester to meet with the English club. De Vrij's will is to play in Lazio."

De Vrij has played for Feyenoord in his entire career so far, and made his senior debut back in 2009.
