Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea will forfeit £12m in wages in order to secure a move to Real Madrid, according to reports.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea will forfeit £12m in wages in order to secure a move to Real Madrid, according to reports.

The 24-year-old, who moved to Old Trafford from Atletico Madrid in 2011, has been strongly linked with a switch to the Bernabeu in recent months.

According to the Daily Star, De Gea has been offered a £200,000 per week deal to stay at United, but he has turned it down, effectively missing out on £12m in wages.

Manager Louis van Gaal is said to be looking at Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris as a replacement for the Spaniard.
