Arsenal have reached an agreement to sign striker Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano thanks to the work of incoming technical director Edu, according to a report.

Edu has reportedly wrapped up a deal for young Brazilian striker Gabriel Martinelli ahead of becoming Arsenal's new technical director.

The 41-year-old, who spent four seasons with the Gunners, is expected to be officially appointed once his contract with the Brazil national team expires after the Copa America.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira, Edu has been working on landing certain targets and he has already reached an agreement with one of them.

Martinelli will supposedly make the move to the Emirates Stadium in a £6m deal once he turns 18 later this month.

A number of other teams have showed a rumoured interest in the Ituano ace, including Real Madrid and Barcelona, and he has also previously had a trial with Manchester United.
