Arsenal have reportedly turned focus back to former midfielder Edu in their search for a new technical director.
The Gunners were knocked back by Monchi last month and have had to rethink their appointment, which they had supposedly wanted to make in time for the summer transfer window.
According to the Daily Mail, Edu is seen as an ideal candidate as he has historical links to the club, having been part of the Invincibles squad in 2003-04.
Edu is currently employed by the Brazilian FA and he has been reluctant to take up Arsenal's offer as the Selecao are hosting the Copa America this summer.
However, it is claimed that Arsenal are now prepared to wait until after the tournament in July to bring the 40-year-old on board, which should make his decision easier.
Arsenal are also rumoured to have set their sights on highly-rated Brazilian youngster Gabriel Martinelli.
