Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly in the race for Hoffenheim striker Maximilian Beier, who is also attracting interest from Juventus and Atletico Madrid.

Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Hoffenheim striker Maximilian Beier.

The 21-year-old played his first-ever campaign in the Bundesliga during the 2023-24 term, impressing potential suitors from across Europe with his displays.

Beier made 33 appearances for Hoffenheim in the league - 29 of those coming from the start - scoring 16 goals and bagging one assist across the course of the league campaign.

The forward had spent the previous two seasons at Hannover in Bundesliga 2, where he netted 15 goals combined over the entirety of two campaigns.

Beier's performances on the club scene earned him international recognition this summer, with the youngster part of Germany's squad for Euro 2024.

Man United, Liverpool want Hoffenheim's Beier?

Despite only featuring for 25 minutes at the European Championship, a host of top European sides are keeping an eye on the situation of Beier this summer.

According to Tutto Juve, Liverpool have joined the race for the services of the 21-year-old ahead of the upcoming 2024-25 campaign, when Arne Slot will begin his reign as Reds boss.

The report also states that Manchester United are considering a move for Beier, who was one of the top goalscorers in the Bundesliga last season.

As well as interest in the Premier League, Juventus and Atletico Madrid of Italy and Spain respectively are said to be in the pursuit of the forward.

It is understood that the Old Lady value Beier at £25m, an amount that will not be good enough to recruit the two-time international at this stage.

Hoffenheim's asking price and Premier League suitability

Hoffenheim are said to value Beier at closer to £34m, meaning that Juventus will need to revise their bid in order to seal the signature of the 21-year-old.

Man United's need for striking reinforcements have lessened this month following the arrival of Netherlands international Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna.

The Dutchman will now compete with Dane Rasmus Hojlund for the first-choice spot at the focal point of Erik ten Hag's Red Devils this season.

As for Liverpool, Slot is yet to complete his first signing as Reds head coach this summer, with a move for Beier not out of the question.
