Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal provides an update on his future amid speculation that Los Blancos may soon be in the market for a replacement.

Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has acknowledged that he wants to remain at the Bernabeu for as long as possible.

On the back of at least one notable departure during the summer transfer window, Carvajal has edged up the pecking order in terms of longest-serving players.

The 32-year-old has been in the senior ranks at Los Blancos since 2013, making a total of 422 appearances in all competitions.

Carvajal can count four La Liga titles and six Champions League trophies among the silverware that he has lifted during his time at his boyhood club.

However, with the right-back closing in on veteran status, there is naturally speculation as to whether the Spain international will continue at Real in the long term.

'The club will decide'

There is now less than 12 months remaining on Carvajal's contract, that being resolved a natural priority for all involved.

Commenting on the situation, as quoted by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Carvajal has reiterated that he wants to stay at the club.

Carvajal told reporters: "New contract at Real Madrid? The club decides. I accept everything. No problem."

"I want to stay here as long as possible but the day I am not Real Madrid's level, I will leave."

Carvajal remains key for club and country

Carvajal spent the summer as first choice in Spain's backline as they won Euro 2024, eventually overcoming England in the final.

Since returning to club action, Carvajal has featured for 89 minutes in the UEFA Super Cup final against Atalanta BC and each of Real's five La Liga fixtures.

On several occasions, Carvajal has captained the side, starting in four matches and being introduced as a late substitute versus La Palmas.

Lucas Vazquez, who is 33 years of age, is currently Carvajal's understudy, strengthening the need for a younger alternative to be found in due course.
