Project Restart: Southampton's remaining 2019-20 Premier League fixtures

Ahead of the Premier League restart next week, Sports Mole looks at the remaining fixtures facing Southampton.

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl will be looking to start afresh when his side resume their Premier League campaign next week following a difficult season to date.

The Saints lost four of their last five matches before the division was brought to a halt by the coronavirus pandemic in early March, leaving them 14th in the table.

With a six-point margin on the bottom three, Hasenhuttl - who penned fresh terms during the shutdown - will be confident of avoiding relegation to the Championship.

There is still work to be done, however, with another couple of victories likely to be required from their remaining nine fixtures to get over the line.

Southampton have a chance to hit the ground running as their first fixture back is away to bottom of the table Norwich City next Friday.

Hasenhuttl's side also still have trips to Watford, Everton, Manchester United and south coast rivals Bournemouth to come before the end of the campaign.

The Saints' home schedule looks tougher, with Arsenal and Manchester City up next at St Mary's Stadium, before visits from Brighton & Hove Albion and high-flying Sheffield United.
