Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke believes that David Moyes is the right man to succeed manager Sir Alex Ferguson at the club.

Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has insisted that David Moyes is the right man to take over from manager Sir Alex Ferguson at the club.

It was announced on Thursday that Moyes would be leaving Everton at the end of the season to become the new boss at Old Trafford on a six-year contract.

"When you look at all of the managers who are out there at this point in time, he fits the role perfectly," Yorke told Sky Sports News.

"He's a very experienced man who has been at Everton for 10 years or so; he's had a very limited amount of money to spend but has managed to get the best out of his players.

"Only time will tell if he is the right man for the job, but I do believe that he is the right appointment at this stage."

Yorke won three Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the Champions League during a four-year spell at United before his departure in 2002.
