Jack Wilshere excited by Danny Welbeck addition

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere admits that he can't wait to see how well new signing Danny Welbeck fits in at the club following his £16m move from Manchester United.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has revealed that he and his teammates are excited about the addition of Danny Welbeck to their side.

The England international completed a £16m move from Manchester United to the Gunners on transfer deadline day, and is in line to make his debut for Arsene Wenger's men against Manchester City.

Wilshere told reporters: "It was a bit of a strange one because I was going to training and remember reading that Tottenham Hotspur were interested. I thought it was a bit strange that we weren't interested.

"As soon as we got to the training ground he said to me that there was a chance it might happen. From then I was on to him every five or 10 minutes asking: 'is it done, is it done?'

"It was not done until 11.30pm and we were all buzzing because he's a great addition. With his pace and his work rate he can get up and down and cause the defence problems from inside or outside."

The Gunners face Manuel Pellegrini's side in their Premier League clash later today.
