Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is "sweating" on the fitness of defenders Fabricio Coloccini and Steven Taylor ahead of next weekend's Premier League clash with Manchester United.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has said that he is "sweating" on the fitness of Fabricio Coloccini and Steven Taylor ahead of next weekend's Premier League clash with Manchester United.

Coloccini sat out of yesterday's 2-2 draw at Reading, while Taylor limped off in the second half.

The defensive duo are expected to miss the Europa League tie against Bordeaux on Thursday with hamstring injuries, but they could both be fit to return against the Red Devils on Sunday.

"Colo isn't far away," said Pardew. "I think for Manchester United we'll be sweating on Colo and Steven."

Sir Alex Ferguson's side have won on seven of their last 10 visits to Tyneside.
