Gaizka Mendieta: 'Manchester United's David de Gea might not join Real Madrid'

Former Valencia midfielder Gaizka Mendieta believes that Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea might have missed his chance to join Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Former Valencia and Middlesbrough midfielder Gaizka Mendieta has suggested that Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea may have missed his chance to join Real Madrid.

The 41-year-old believes that the Spanish international - whose move to Real Madrid fell through in dramatic fashion last week - might not see another opportunity to join the La Liga giants.

Mendieta is quoted by FourFourTwo as saying: "Let's see what happens now, because both sides are upset with what happened, both seem to be blaming each other.

"I think on the player's side it's hard. I'm not sure if we will see another chance for De Gea to go back to Madrid.

"He certainly is going to be the best goalkeeper for Spain in the next couple of years."

De Gea could make his first appearance of the season for Manchester United against Liverpool on Saturday.
