Manchester United and Manchester City are given until 6pm on Friday to "provide their observations" regarding the post-match fallout at Old Trafford last weekend.

The Football Association has granted Manchester United and Manchester City extra time to provide their observations regarding the events that followed last weekend's highly-charged match.

As many as 20 playing and coaching staff members clashed in the Old Trafford tunnel area following the Citizens' 2-1 win, which moved them 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League.

Both teams are at the centre of an FA probe looking into the incident, which left City coach Mikel Arteta with a facial injury, and the governing body has now extended the deadline for United and City to respond beyond Wednesday evening's initial deadline.

"Manchester United and Manchester City have both been given extra time to provide their observations following reports of an incident after Sunday's game. They now have until 6pm on Friday 15 December," an FA spokesman said.

Speaking on Tuesday, Jose Mourinho questioned Man City players' post-match behaviour and suggested that it was down to "a diversity in education".
