Louis Van Gaal: "I am a very happy coach"

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal reveals his delight after his side's 3-0 win against Everton at Goodison Park.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has admitted that he is a "very happy coach" after his side beat Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park.

Goals from Morgan Schneiderlin, Ander Herrera and Wayne Rooney gave the visitors the win, and Van Gaal revealed that he was delighted that his team bounced back quickly after their defeat to Arsenal before the international break.

The Dutchman told BBC Sport: "I am a very happy coach and also very proud of the players because it is a fantastic performance I think and after the defeat against Arsenal we needed it and therefore it is very important that we have won today.

"It was our strategy today to drop in a little bit and we created space for ourselves and I think that was a good strategy."

The 64-year-old was also pleased for Rooney to end his goalscoring drought and hopes it can lead to many more from the United captain.

Van Gaal added: "I'm very happy for him [Rooney] but for me, it is more important that my team is scoring three goals.

"Rooney scores his goal is also important for the team because he hasn't scored here for many, many years, I believe his last was in 2007 so I am very happy for him and I hope it is the start for a lot of goals."

Manchester United remain in third in the Premier League table after Arsenal won in the late kickoff.
