Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has revealed that he was pleased with the patience his side displayed to break down West Bromwich Albion in their 2-0 victory at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils maintained their title challenge as second-half strikes from Jesse Lingard and the Spaniard from the penalty spot were enough to secure the three points in their Premier League clash.
Mata believes that his side displayed good composure not to become frustrated, despite having to wait until the 52nd minute for Lingard to fire them ahead.
He told BBC Sport: "I think we played good football in the first half – in the second half we had problems. But it's the perfect result going into the international break.
"We knew they would come and defend and then look for Salomon Rondon on the counter. We were patient enough. Obviously we want to attack – sometimes you can't because of the opponent."
United are fourth in the Premier League following their victory over the Baggies.
