Patrice Evra hails defensive strength

Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra hails his side's defensive strength and backs them to go on and win more clean sheets over the remainder of the season.

Manchester United full-back Patrice Evra has hailed his side's defensive strength following their 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park yesterday.

The win marked the first time that United have kept back-to-back clean sheets in the Premier League since David Moyes took over, following on from their goalless draw against Arsenal earlier this month.

"We had a lot of experience, and when Rio came on at Arsenal, I thought he was fantastic. You could see with Rio [Ferdinand] and [Nemanja] Vidic in good form that we can be solid and get more clean sheets," Evra is quoted as saying by PA.

"Don't forget Chris Smalling can play there, Phil Jones and Jonny Evans can get back from injury. We have good centre-backs and that is important for the team."

United are currently sixth in the Premier League table, 11 points behind fourth-placed Liverpool.
