David de Gea: 'Manchester United must play better'

David de Gea insists that his Manchester United teammates must improve following the club's 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Old Trafford on Monday night.

David de Gea has insisted that his Manchester United teammates must improve following the club's 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Old Trafford on Monday night.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side took the lead against the Gunners through a superb strike from Scott McTominay to end an otherwise-poor first half a goal in front.

However, the Red Devils once again failed to build on their advantage before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, through the help of VAR, scored his seventh goal in as many games.

Speaking on Sky Sports News after the game, De Gea said: "This is Manchester United so we have to win these games. The lads have to react and play better than they are doing. We are a team but we have to improve.

"The goal was a big mistake for us. We gave away an important goal. Of course if the linesman keeps the flag down and we also know there is VAR behind it's a goal for them. We need to learn from that mistake."

The result means that United have only claimed two wins in their last 12 Premier League games, with the club sitting in 10th place in the table.

Alarmingly, the result also meant that United have only scored more than one goal once in their last 15 outings under the Norwegian.
