Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that right-back Diogo Dalot is "not available" for Saturday's Manchester derby against bitter rivals Manchester City in the Premier League.
Dalot was taken off in the 34th minute of United's 3-0 EFL Cup quarter-final win over Charlton Athletic on Tuesday, with Ten Hag initially insisting that his substitution was 'precautionary'.
However, the 23-year-old will now miss the derby clash at Old Trafford, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka set to step in at right-back, while Donny van de Beek has been ruled out for the rest of the season after sustaining a serious knee injury against Bournemouth on January 3.
Axel Tuanzebe is also sidelined with an unspecified problem, and Jadon Sancho is unlikely to feature as he continues to build up his fitness.
Centre-back Raphael Varane and forward Anthony Martial were both rested in midweek and are expected to be recalled to the first XI on Saturday – the latter pending a late fitness check – with Harry Maguire and Anthony Elanga potentially making way.
Luke Shaw is also an option at centre-back, but he will likely return at left-back for Tyrell Malacia, with Lisandro Martinez partnering Varane in the middle of the back four.
In midfield, Bruno Fernandes missed the win over Charlton due to suspension but he is set to return against City, joining Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in a three-man midfield, while Fred and Scott McTominay provide cover on the substitutes' bench.
Marcus Rashford – who has scored seven goals in six games since the World Cup break, including a brace off the bench against Charlton – is expected to operate on the left side of attack, with Antony keeping his place on the right flank.
Manchester United possible starting lineup: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martinez, Shaw; Casemiro, Eriksen; Antony, Fernandes, Rashford; Martial
