Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has refused to comment on the fitness of defender Chris Smalling.
Before the international break Mourinho questioned the attitude of both Smalling and Luke Shaw after they were ruled out of the match against Swansea City due to injuries.
It later emerged that Smalling was suffering from a broken toe and will be sidelined for four weeks, although Mourinho did confirm that Shaw is "ready to play" against Arsenal at Old Trafford this weekend.
"Chris Smalling you cannot ask. You have your sources. You trust them. You believe them. You did that for 15 days. Now you are not going to ask me to comment on your trusted sources. You wrote, spoke, comment, criticised. I don't say a word. You do the big headlines," he told reporters.
"Luke Shaw has worked well in this period when we had a very small group. He is ready to play - I don't have any problem. He is a young player with potential. He has things he needs to learn. He has my confidence. We have five games in three competitions. He will play [at some point]."
Mourinho also confirmed that captain Wayne Rooney is available despite pulling out of the England squad during the international break.
