Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck has insisted that he was just doing his job as his strike proved to be decisive in knocking his former club Manchester United out of the FA Cup at Old Trafford.
The Gunners progressed to the last four of the competition as Welbeck pounced on an error from Antonio Valencia to round David de Gea and slot the ball home to hand his side a 2-1 victory.
Welbeck told the club's official website: "It was a great reception. It was hard for me but I tried to be respectful. It was about being professional, keeping my focus and motivation.
"I kept plugging away and then got on the end of Antonio Valencia's backpass, beat David de Gea and got the winning goal. I'm just really pleased we're through to the next round.
"I stayed professional and I was just doing my job. To be able to get back on the scoresheet and get through to the next round is the most important thing."
Welbeck joined Arsenal in September from United in a £16m deal after being told he was surplus to requirements at the Red Devils.
