Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini could sell striker Mario Balotelli in January to raise funds for new signings, according to a report.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini could be forced to sell striker Mario Balotelli in January, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

It has been reported that the club's new sporting director Txiki Begiristain told the Italian last week that he will not be given funds to make new signings in January unless he can offload players to raise money.

Mancini could now be led to sell Balotelli in order to reinforce his squad in January as he reportedly doubts whether the 22-year-old can reach his full potential at City.

Balotelli joined the Premier League champions from Inter Milan in 2010.
