Pep Guardiola says that he is comfortable with Manchester City's decision to sell Ferran Torres to Barcelona.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has said that he feels "absolutely no disappointment" with Ferran Torres's decision to move to Barcelona.

Despite being just 18 months into a five-year contract, Torres recently informed Guardiola and City that he wanted to return to Spain to represent the Catalan giants.

On Wednesday, it emerged that a deal, allegedly in the region of £55m, was close to being finalised before the January transfer window officially opens at the start of 2022.

While Guardiola is losing a key player in his squad, the Spaniard has insisted that he has no issues with parting ways with the winger.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Guardiola said: "I said many times, when he came to me, if you are not happy you have to leave. We are not a club like other teams when you want to leave and the CEO and president say no. Another issue is the agreement with the clubs, and the players, it's not my business.

"If the players want to leave they have to have an agreement with the club. If the club isn't acceptable the offer, you have to stay. That's why players have marvellous agents, they negotiate through the media, through underneath or using the weapons they have to do the deals. They have to do it.

"It's not the case for Ferran. For everyone, if you want to leave because you're not happy here, you believe you'll be happy in another place, you have to go. Career is short, one day it's over. If he wants to leave, absolutely no disappointment. It's his desire, I'm happy for him."

Torres will depart the Premier League having contributed 16 goals and four assists from his 43 appearances in all competitions.
