Fernandinho to leave Manchester City on a free transfer?

Fernandinho expects to leave Manchester City on a free transfer next June, according to a report.

Fernandinho is reportedly expecting to leave Manchester City on a free transfer next summer.

The 35-year-old is in his eighth season with the Citizens and has made 320 appearances for the English club in all competitions since his arrival from Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Brazilian has had his injury problems during the 2020-21 campaign but has featured on eight occasions for Pep Guardiola's side, including against Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Fernandinho's existing deal at the Etihad Stadium is due to expire next June, though, and according to The Mirror, the holding midfielder is preparing to move on.

The report claims that the South American is not thinking about hanging up his boots and could join City's sister club New York City FC, while a number of clubs in Brazil are said to be monitoring developments.

Fernandinho has won three Premier League titles during his time with Guardiola's side.
