Barcelona have reportedly offered Manchester City Ousmane Dembele in exchange for Ferran Torres.
The Catalan giants have been strongly linked with a move for the 21-year-old Spain international, with one report previously suggesting that a £42.5m deal is "90% done".
However, El Nacional reports that Barca are unable to afford a cash offer to sign Torres in January, so club president Joan Laporta has instead proposed a player-exchange with Man City involving Dembele, who is out of contract next summer.
The report adds that Barca are unsure as to whether Dembele is willing to commit his future to the club, and as the winger is able to negotiate pre-contract agreements with other teams from January 1, the La Liga giants will consider his departure in the New Year, either as a direct sale or as part of a player-exchange deal.
Torres, who only joined the Citizens in August 2020, has allegedly informed manager Pep Guardiola of his desire to move back to Spain and to join up with Xavi at Camp Nou.
The forward has scored 16 goals and provided four assists is 43 appearances for City, while Dembele has recorded 30 goals and 22 assists in 125 matches for Barcelona.
