England Under-21s have been dealt a blow by the news that Jack Harrison has been forced to withdraw from the squad to face Ukraine Under-21s.
Late last year, Harrison was rewarded for his form for New York City FC by being given two outings by Aidy Boothroyd, and the winger had hoped to continue to make an impression with the Three Lions.
However, Harrison will play no part of the Under-21 European Championship qualifying fixture with Ukraine on Tuesday night due to an abdominal injury.
The same injury kept the 21-year-old out of Saturday's friendly success over Romania Under-21s, and the Middlesbrough man - on loan from Manchester City - will now return to the North-East.
Harrison has made just two substitute appearances for Boro since moving to the Riverside Stadium in January.
