Liverpool have reportedly made an offer of around €50m (£43.7m) for Monaco midfielder Fabinho.
The Reds are in the market for midfield reinforcements, with Emre Can expected to leave the club this summer and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain likely to miss the start of next season through injury.
An injury crisis towards the latter stages of the 2017-18 campaign has convinced Jurgen Klopp to further strengthen his options beyond the impending arrival of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig.
RMC Sport reports that Fabinho has emerged as a transfer target, with Liverpool offering almost £44m for the 24-year-old.
Monaco are understood to be holding out for a bigger offer from the Champions League finalists, but talks between the two clubs are ongoing.
Fabinho, who has been linked with the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Atletico Madrid in the past, was directly involved in 13 goals across 45 appearances this season.
