Liverpool have completed their first signing since the arrival of Jurgen Klopp with the capture of Red Star Belgrade teenager Marko Grujic.
The Serbian team confirmed on their website that the Reds had agreed a €7m (£5.1m) deal for the 19-year-old, who will remain at the club until next summer as part of the agreement.
Red Star revealed that both Anderlecht and Stuttgart had also made offers for the midfielder, but Liverpool's proposal, that includes 10% of any sell-on fee, trumped the lot.
A statement read: "All at Red Star sincerely want Marko Grujic to play in our uniform for the next 10 years, but the financial situation of our club dictates the adoption of a different decision."
Grujic was part of the Serbia squad that won the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand in June.
