Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp denies that German midfielder Emre Can has already decided to leave Anfield following unsuccessful contract talks.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has denied suggestions that Emre Can has already decided to leave Anfield this summer.

Can, 23, has entered the final year of his contract with the Reds, and it is understood that the two parties are currently struggling to come to a new agreement.

It has recently been claimed that the German international is closing in on a move to Juventus, but Klopp has insisted that he "wants to keep" Can after holding "good talks" in recent days.

"You can imagine we're involved in talks and we all feel good and confident in this moment," Klopp told the Liverpool Echo. "That means they're not the worst talks but until anything is done or signed there's nothing to say.

"Emre is a very important player for us. We don't want to sell or lose players who are in our first line-up or close to it. Emre is certainly one of them. We want to keep him and we're having good talks."

Can, who helped Germany win the Confederations Cup earlier this summer, scored five times and provided two assists in 32 Premier League appearances for Liverpool last season.
