Joe Allen: 'Contract talks with Liverpool have gone very quiet'

Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen is unsure about his future at Anfield as contract talks with Liverpool have "gone very quiet".

Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen has poured doubt over his future at Anfield by revealing that contract talks have gone "very quiet".

The 25-year-old has struggled to cement a regular spot in the first team, making just one Premier League start this season.

Discussions over a new deal began last March when former manager Brendan Rodgers was in charge, but under Jurgen Klopp's tenure, it is unclear whether Allen has a future.

According to The Guardian when asked about his contract situation, Allen said: "That's gone very quiet. I'm not too sure really.

"I've only made one league start this season, so I want to play more. I think that's obvious for any player in that situation. From my point of view it's just about knuckling down, doing my job and giving my best, which is always what I do."

Allen has 18 months left on his current contract.
