Corinthians confirm Liverpool, Alexandre Pato deal

Corinthians president Robero de Andrade claims that Liverpool have struck a deal in principle to bring striker Alexandre Pato to Anfield.

The president of Corinthians has confirmed that Liverpool have agreed a deal in principle to sign Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato.

Speculation is rife that the Reds were closing in on a £14m deal for the 26-year-old, with the Premier League outfit reportedly rejecting these rumours on Saturday.

However, Robero de Andrade claims that Jurgen Klopp's side are indeed interested in the former AC Milan starlet, whom he claims is likely to be joining the Anfield club.

"There is an agreement in principle with Liverpool for the transfer in the coming weeks," he told Tutto Mercato Web. "Pato had long expressed a desire to return to Europe.

"Liverpool await, there are a few missing details, but Klopp will have a new reinforcement and for Pato the Premier League will be a new springboard."

Pato returned to his native Brazil in 2013 after struggling to fulfill his potential during a five-year stay with the Rossoneri.
