Aston Villa are reportedly interested in appointing Damien Comolli as director of football.
The Midlands club recently brought in a new manager, with Tim Sherwood replacing the sacked Paul Lambert last week.
According to The Sun, the Premier League strugglers are looking to bring in a director of football, with Comolli and former United States manager Bob Bradley in the frame.
Frenchman Comolli has held the same role previously at Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, before being dismissed by both clubs after being held responsible for the failings of particular signings.
The 42-year-old has not held a role in England since being sacked by Liverpool in April 2012.
