Luis Suarez apologises for racism row

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez apologises for the recent racism row involving Patrice Evra.

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has apologised for his recent racism row involving Patrice Evra.

The Uruguayan has been banned for eight matches by the Football Association for calling Evra a "negro" during a match against Manchester United in October.

Despite the public apology, Suarez has still refused to say sorry to Evra.

"I never, ever used the word in a derogatory way and if it offends anyone then I want to apologise for that," he said.

"I admitted to the commission that I said a word in Spanish once, and only once, and I told the panel members that I will not use it again on a football pitch in England."

The Merseyside club have come in for widespread criticism for defending Suarez.
