Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers reveals that he found it easier to take over at Swansea City than he did at Liverpool.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted Roberto Martinez ensured that he settled in at Swansea City quicker than he did at Anfield.

Rodgers struggled upon his arrival on Merseyside as Liverpool looked for consistency in the Premier League, and the former Swansea boss believes that he has had an easier time at the Liberty Stadium thanks to Martinez.

The 40-year-old told reporters: "There was great work here with Kenny Dalglish and Steve Clarke. But I am a different coach and a different tactician and a different man to them.

"I came here and looked to put my template in place, which of course was going to take a bit longer because when I went to Swansea there was a foundation there.

"Martinez did a terrific job at Swansea for the couple of years he was there, it made my job easier going in. I could then work on other aspects."

Rodgers and Martinez face each other as Liverpool travel to Wigan on Saturday.
