Brendan Rodgers aims to 'keep momentum' heading into Merseyside derby

Brendan Rodgers is hopeful that his Liverpool team can keep their momentum going when they face Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is hopeful that his team can keep their unbeaten run going when they take on Everton in Saturday's Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

The Reds have not been beaten in the Premier League since their 3-0 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford on December 14.

Since then, they have secured five victories and two draws and sit 14 points above local rivals Everton in the league table.

"These are wonderful games, just being involved in them around the city is incredible," Rodgers told talkSPORT. "It is a great atmosphere at Goodison Park and we will go there and try and keep this momentum going.

"We knew it was going to be a long road to get into contention [for the top four] after the way we started the season but from December through to now we wanted to arrive at the end of January in a good moment so we weren't too far off, knowing we will get in the second part of the season, and it has sort of panned out like that."

Last night, Liverpool progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 2-1 win over Bolton Wanderers in their fourth-round replay.
