Rickie Lambert: Liverpool "confident" of win over Manchester United

Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert insists that the Reds are "confident" that they can beat Manchester United in the Premier League.

Rickie Lambert has insisted that Liverpool are "confident" that they can come away with a win when they visit Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday.

Brendan Rodgers's side played out a goalless stalemate with Sunderland last weekend before a 1-1 draw with Basel saw the Reds knocked out of the Champions League this week.

However, Lambert feels that the clash against old rivals United is "perfect" to get Liverpool going again.

He told the club's website: "It's perfect to get the team rallied up again and get us going again. Make no mistake, we're hurting, but we're confident we can win the game.

"United are doing well at the minute but it's the old cliche that it doesn't really matter who's doing well and who isn't with this one. It's one of those games that can turn a season and hopefully that can be our kickstart.

"There's a lot of respect but a bit of hatred as well. It's everything we want in a game. Two good teams, two top clubs going head-to-head, it's something I'm looking forward to. There's something special about these games."

Liverpool currently sit ninth in the table, six places behind their hosts at Old Trafford.
