Fernando Torres set for shock Liverpool return?

Liverpool consider a shock swoop for Fernando Torres, according to reports.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly weighing up a possible move for former Anfield hero Fernando Torres.

The Spaniard joined AC Milan on a two-year loan from Chelsea, but has failed to impress in Italy, having scored just once in 10 games for the Rossoneri.

According to the Daily Star, Blues boss Jose Mourinho has no intention of bringing Torres back to Stamford Bridge.

However, Rodgers is thought to be open to the idea of El Nino returning to the club for a second spell. Any move is considered unlikely albeit not completely out of the question.

The Reds' striking options have been limited since the sale of Luis Suarez and a string of injuries to Daniel Sturridge, with new signings Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli failing to score regularly.

Torres spent three-and-a-half seasons at Liverpool before joining Chelsea in a £50m deal.
