Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius insists that he and Simon Mignolet "get on well" despite competing for the number one jersey at Anfield.

Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius has insisted that there is no ill-will between himself and teammate Simon Mignolet.

Karius is expected to start for the fourth game in a row when the Reds welcome Manchester United to Anfield on Monday night, having displaced the Belgian in Jurgen Klopp's starting XI.

The 23-year-old acknowledged that the pair were rivals, but revealed that they get on well and look to help each other out whenever possible.

"It's not about being best friends but we get on well. On the pitch we know we are rivals but that doesn't mean you wish anything bad on the other," Karius told reporters.

"It's very professional and all in all we are a good group. We try to help each other if there is something we can do for the other one.

"You prepare for the game anyway so it doesn't really make a difference if you know a month before, a week before, a day before, because it won't really change anything in your training."

Three points separate Liverpool and Manchester United in the table heading into Monday's showdown.
