Jurgen Klopp delighted by Liverpool showing in Aston Villa rout

Jurgen Klopp hails "a great day" for Liverpool after seeing his side put six goals past Aston Villa in a one-sided contest in the West Midlands.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he enjoyed every second of his side's 6-0 thrashing of Aston Villa in Sunday's Premier League clash.

Six different players registered their name on the scoresheet at Villa Park, as the Reds produced arguably their best display yet under the German to climb up to eighth place.

Klopp was happy with the way his side defended Villa's rare attacking moments on what he believes was an afternoon to remember for the Anfield club.

"It's a great day," he told talkSPORT. "It's not very often in a manager's career that you have days like this, that you score the goals always in the right moment and control the game the whole time.

"There were a few situations, not really dangerous, but a few [attacking] situations for Aston Villa, but we defended them well."

Liverpool now turn their attention towards a Europa League knockout double-header against Augsburg, before facing off against Manchester City in the League Cup final.
