Roy Hodgson: 'I have good relationships with club managers'

England coach Roy Hodgson insists that he has a good relationship with the managers of the Premier League's clubs, regardless of what is written in the press.

England coach Roy Hodgson has insisted that he has a good relationship with the mangers of Premier League clubs, despite the media sometimes suggesting otherwise.

Hodgson was recently involved in a furore surrounding Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling after the England coach stated that the youngster was tired ahead of a qualifier against Estonia, with the player's club coach Brendan Rodgers not taking kindly to how the situation was handled.

Despite the claims made by both managers, Hodgson has now stated that the club vs. country conflict has not troubled his relationship with coaches in the top flight of English football.

"My relationship with the clubs is good. I don't have any problems with the clubs. Once again, people will always try to make that," said Hodgson, according to ESPN.

"The club-country conflict is something which has kept newspapers going for years and years, so when there isn't really one [a problem], I have to accept that every now and again, one will be invented, but we don't have any problems.

"I have been very lucky with all the clubs, with all the managers. They have all been very, very good."

England currently occupy top spot in Group E as they bid to gain qualification into the European Championship 2016.
