Jordan Henderson plays down title talk

Jordan Henderson plays down Liverpool's chances of winning the Premier League this season, despite moving top of the table today.

Jordan Henderson has played down Liverpool's chances of winning the Premier League after the Reds beat Tottenham Hotspur today to move top of the table.

Brendan Rodgers's men enhanced their title credentials at Anfield this afternoon by thrashing Spurs 4-0 to usurp Chelsea at the summit.

With six games remaining, Henderson admits that there is a good chance of ending the club's 24-year wait for a league title, but insists that the challenge must be taken one game at a time.

"The table looks good. We knew today was important. We had to focus on what we have been doing," he told reporters.

"The crowd were outstanding. They really lifted us. Great togetherness here. We knew we had to start well, press high and get the ball back.

"We all dream of winning the Premier League one day and we have a chance. It is one game at a time, then see where we are. Of course it would be special but you can't look too far in the future."

A Younes Kaboul own goal after two minutes gave Tottenham a worst possible start before Luis Suarez doubled the advantage later in the half.

Philippe Coutinho and Henderson added gloss to the scoreline in the second half to cap another impressive home display for Rodgers's men.

The Merseyside outfit resume their title challenge with a visit to West Ham United next weekend.
