England Under-21 captain Jordan Henderson has admitted that he is hoping to use his international form to impress Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers.

The 22-year-old midfielder, who has yet to make a Premier League appearance this season, played the full 90 minutes as Stuart Pearce's men beat Azerbaijan 2-0 on Thursday.

"Every time you play football you want to impress everyone who watches," said Henderson.

"It doesn't matter if that's at your club or internationally. You always want to do your best. It'll be the same on Monday night [when England play Norway].

"It's great to be able to play 90 minutes. You want to play in every game you can."

Henderson featured in all but one of the Reds' 38 league games last season.
